Secretary of Defense Carter to Speak at Luncheon, Thursday Sept. 15

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter will brief the media on the latest developments in the fight against Islamic State at a National Press Club luncheon on Thursday, September 15. During his confirmation hearings in 2014, Carter said that the U.S. military in the Middle East must ensure a “lasting defeat” of ISIS. He’s also advocated supplying Ukraine’s military with lethal arms to help battle Russia-backed separatists.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a Q&A session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $24 for Press Club members (NPC Members may purchase 2 tickets at this rate) and $38 for all other non-member tickets. NPC Members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
