Rescheduled Newsmaker Tuesday -- America's youth: more miserable than ever

February 18, 2014 | By Herb Perone, Chair, NPC Newsmakers Committee | herb@peronecomm.com

The official Youth Misery Index, as calculated by Young America’s Foundation (YAF), has hit a record high of 98.6. The index is calculated by adding figures for youth unemployment (at a near record high), average graduating student loan debt (at a record high) and the per capita national debt (also at a record high). YAF spokesperson Ashley Pratte will discuss the Youth Misery Index, the hardships that young people are experiencing and the resulting implications for the 2014 elections at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 in the club’s Lisagor Room. Like all Newsmakers events, this news conference is open to club members and credentialed press. There is no fee and no advance registration is required. This event was originally scheduled for Feb. 13 but inclement weather required rescheduling.
