Mobilizing the Latino vote to be examined at noon Sept. 14

Panelists from the Pew Hispanic Center and the National Council of La Raza will analyze voter mobilization efforts and tactics politicians are using to attract the growing population of Latino voters at noon Friday, Sept. 14, at the National Press Club.

Jack Tomas, a professional blogger who writes about Latino political issues for Feet in Two Worlds, will join the panel to discuss his experiences growing up as a Cuban-American and the cultural pressures that can affect voters' choices.

The event is free for Club members and $10 for non-members. Register here.

Fewer than two months before Election Day, the Latino vote is more important than ever in national politics. But because the Latino population is highly diverse, harnessing its power at the ballot box presents a challenge for political parties. Hispanics are the fastest-growing group of independent voters, with 46 percent saying they reject a party label, according to a recent study.
