Puerto Rico Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla to speak at luncheon, Dec. 16

Alejandro Garcia Padilla, the governor of Puerto Rico, will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The island, a U.S. territory, is struggling under $70 billion of debt and suffering from shrinking economy that forces an increased number of Puerto Ricans to leave the island and seek better prospects on U.S. mainland.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a Q&A session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $23 for National Press Club members and one guest, and $37 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased online by clicking here.
