Press Building beefs up security for Sept. 11 anniversary

Please plan for possible delays from extra security measures being instituted at the National Press Building in the days before and after the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Starting Thursday night, Sept. 8, the building is asking everyone who enters the lobby to provide an ID and to sign in and state their destination.

These measures are expected to cause lines to form at key traffic times, such as morning and noon and when big events are taking place at the National Press Club. People without ID or who refuse to sign in may be turned away by security.

We will keep you posted if there are changes to this policy. We appreciate your patience.
