Photo Committee presents GoPro camera event Nov. 12

Mounted on a skier's helmet, on the handlebars of a bicycle or on the head of a dog, GoPro cameras allow users to take videos from totally unique points of view. The striking results often go viral on the Internet and draw millions of viewers.

The Club’s Photography Committee is sponsoring an event Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the conference rooms that will give everyone a unique opportunity to meet, hear, and see videos from two key members of the GoPro company.

The event is open to the public, free to National Press Club members and one guest each, $5 to all others. All attendees, including NPC members, must register here.

If you have been on YouTube recently, or if your friends on Facebook or other social media have posted short videos taken by surfers beneath huge waves, sky divers jumping out of airplanes, or scientists hugging lions, you probably know something about these cameras.

Wil Tidman, head of media production, and Jim Geduldick, cinema, broadcast and photo marketing manager, covering the professional industries plan to speak.

Tidman has created, written, directed and produced video content, feature films, network televised shows and web series.

Geduldick as a director of photography, editor and visual effects artist has worked in features, commercials, music videos and documentaries.
