Panel to offer a primer on covering federal agencies Oct. 25

What’s a journalist to do when the federal government agency you want to cover doesn’t want to be covered?

Learn how to navigate the political and bureaucratic federal agency waters, how to work with public affairs officers and how to develop sources that can provide the intel you need to write your story. A panel scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the National Press Club will provide you this information, and more.

Panelists will be:

- Past Club President Jerry Zremski, Buffalo News, who covered the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration during the Colgan Air Flight 3457 crash.

- David Ross, a former Food and Drug Administration drug reviewer who testified before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations about the antibiotic, Ketek.

- Lisa Heinzerling, a law professor at Georgetown University and former senior climate policy counsel for the Environmental Protection Agency.

The panel will be moderated by Club member Dionne C. Clemons, strategic communications scholar, and is sponsored by the Professional Development Committee.
