NPC visits Canadian Rockies in August

Travel to the Canadian Rockies from August 4-10, 2012, starting in Calgary and visiting Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper.

Trip highlights include traveling along the Icefields Parkway, one of the world's most spectacular mountain highways. See the Bow and Crowfoot Glaciers, Athabasca Falls and Peyto Lake. Snowcapped mountains are reflected in the turquoise waters of Moraine Lake, and you can be on the look-out for black bear, moose, and caribou along the way. Visit Jasper National Park and cruise Maligne Lake for more spectacular scenery.

Next on the itinerary is Banff, Canada's first National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The motor coach becomes a "snocoach" as it ventures onto North America's largest glacier, the Columbia Icefield's Athabasca Glacier. At the icefall below the glacier, step out onto ice formed from snow that fell as long as 400 years ago.

On a tour of Banff, including Bow Falls and Tunnel Mountain, there is a gondola ride to the peak of Sulphur Mountain for a spectacular panoramic view of the village and valley below. Travel to beautiful Chateau Lake Louise where more beautiful sights of the Lake are in store.

The trip cost is $2199 per person, double, and an additional $959 for a single room. Included in the price are six nights in first-class hotels, travel by private motor coach, 9 meals, airport transfers, and sightseeing. Air fare to and from Calgary is not included. Economy roundtrip fare from Washington Reagan National Airport is approximately $700 per person.
