NPC Journalism Institute sponsors census database training for journalists, Feb. 24

The National Press Club Journalism Institute’s Professional Development Committee plans to hold a workshop by the U.S. Census Bureau to help reporters navigate the Census Bureau's American Fact Finder database.

The class is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. It is free for NPC members; $10 for non-members. RSVP necessary: [email protected]

The Census Bureau web-based data can help journalists dig up information on population, housing, economic, and geographic details to back up any story. Learning to find key data will help beef up investigative and spot stories, and help illuminate election year coverage.

The class will be held in the Bloomberg Classroom and laptops will be provided. Coffee will be available at 9 a.m.
