NPC Book Rap on Tuesday, Jan. 19 with former Senate leaders Lott and Daschle

Former Senate Majority Leaders Trent Lott and Tom Daschle plan to discuss their new book, "Crisis Point: Why We Must -- and How We Can -- Overcome Our Broken Politics in Washington and Across America," at a National Press Club Book Rap on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Conference Rooms. Please note the new time. The event was originally scheduled for later.

Tickets are $5 for Press Club members and $10 for the public. The book and tickets are available online here for purchase. The event is a fundraiser for the NPC Journalism Institute. No outside books or memorabilia permitted. Books must be purchased through the Club. All sales are final; no refunds will be issued. The Club expects to also sell books at the event.

From opposite sides of the aisle, Lott, a Republican from Mississippi, and Daschle, a Democrat from South Dakota, both served as majority leaders. Their book analyzes the polarization of our political parties that has currently made governing so difficult.

The senators cite forces like the permanent campaign, unprecedented political spending, and the 24/7 news cycle. They then offer recommendations on how to move forward.
