New Name for History Committee

January 26, 2010

The History and Heritage Committee is the new name of the Club committee that deals with collecting, preserving and publicizing NPC history. A change from History Committee was approved last week by President Alan Bjerga and reflects the committee's intention to do more than perform oral history interviews.

On the drawing board are programs to remember the 25th anniversary of the merger of the NPC and the Washington Press Club and the reopening of the reconstruction National Press Building. Under consideration are fireside chats and display case exhibits. The committee will also continue its work to improve and perfect its procedures for conducting and recording oral history interviews.

The committee plans to meet at noon the first Tuesday of each month. The next meeting is Feb. 2. To join the committee or discuss its work contact chairman Bill Hickman, or Marlene Justsen, archivist, at .
