National Press Club prepares for 38th Annual Book Fair & Authors Night on Nov. 17

One of the capital’s premier literary events, the annual NPC Book Fair & Authors Night draws the nation’s top pols, pundits and cultural icons to the historic National Press Club in downtown Washington. The 38th annual event is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Admission to the Book Fair is $5 for Press Club members and $10 for non-members. Since the event is a fundraiser for the NPC's National Journalism Institute, no outside books are permitted.

The event's organizers promise a robust crowd of booklovers, journalists and politicos seeking the latest titles across the genres –- from cookbooks and children’s stories to history, sports, memoirs and mysteries -- and a chance to mingle with more than 90 of the nation’s best authors.

History buffs should be sure to stop by to meet David Mariniss, who will be there with his new book, Once in a Great City: A Detroit Story, along with James Symington with Heard and Overheard: Words Wise (and Otherwise) with Politicians, Statesmen, and Real People and Dina Gold with Stolen Legacy: Nazi Theft and the Quest for Justice at Krausenstrasse 17/18.

Children’s authors include NPC member Eleanor Herman with Legacy of Kings, T.A. Barron with Atlantis in Peril, and Phyllis Reynolds Naylor with A Shiloh Christmas.

A full list of participants is listed on the Club’s website: Click on the Authors and Books button on the Book Fair website.

For a tax deductible contribution of $25, you can become a “Friend of the Book Fair.” You will be recognized in the program, and receive a free ticket to the event.
