Muslim commission on human rights to discuss women's, children's issues Dec. 13

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) is the first Muslim commission on human rights, making the rights of women and children its top priority.

During a Newsmaker beginning at noon Thursday, Dec. 13, in the club's Zenger Room, IPHRC members will discuss the work being done by the commission to support human rights and women’s rights, in particular in countries that have not always effectively protected women’s rights.

This is the first appearance of this newly created group in Washington. The OIC is the second-largest intergovernmental organization after the United Nations and has a membership of 56 states spread over four continents, as well as the Palestinian Authority.
