Multimedia journalism fundamentals: It’s not just point and shoot, 6 pm Nov. 5

Veteran broadcast journalists Tom Hendrick and Larry Quinn plan to offer practical tips for producing quality video and audio, whether you’re using an iPhone or more sophisticated video equipment, at a National Press Club Journalism Institute professional development training session from on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Bloomberg Room.

The session is intended for print journalists as well as young reporters who may not have had formal training.

The session will focus on the basics of good photo, audio and video gathering. Topics covered will include verbal and visual storytelling, audio and video recording/editing and integrating multimedia into text-based reportage.

Hendrick was a broadcast journalist who worked throughout the Middle East and South Asia for more than 30 years. Learn more at his website.

Quinn managed the United States Department of Agriculture video and teleconference facility for 20 years, including producing live full-motion TV broadcasts via satellite.
