Lithuanian Ambassador to discuss Lithuania’s first presidency of European Union

The Ambassador of Lithuania to the U.S., Zygimantas Pavilionis, will discuss Lithuania’s first presidency of the Council of the European Union at a Newsmaker news event on Aug. 22. He will also discuss the August 23 anniversary of the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact which divided the territories of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Poland, and Finland into Soviet and Nazi "spheres of influence."

He also will celebrate the l992 withdrawal of forces of the former Soviet Union from the Baltic states. The Newsmaker news conference is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Club’s Bloomberg Room.
