Learn how to navigate campaign finance filings Friday, April 12 at 9 a.m.

Just before a big week of campaign finance filings at the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the National Press Club plans to host a panel of political-data experts offering tips on navigating the records and story ideas to be culled from them.

The panel is scheduled for Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Bloomberg Room. The cost is $5 for Press Club members, $10 for non-members. Register here.

Representatives of the FEC, the Center for Responsive Politics, Bloomberg News and the Sunlight Foundation will lead the discussion.

During the week of April 15, the FEC will receive campaign-finance reports from all campaign committees (filers on a quarterly schedule are due on April 15; monthly filers on April 20); pre-primary reports for the Massachusetts special Senate election (due April 18); and the final accounting of President Barack Obama's inaugural committee (April 20).
