Learn how to interview sexual assault victims, 1 pm Jan. 8

Perhaps no task is as daunting for reporters than interviewing a victim of sexual assault. A panel of experts will address how best to avoid pitfalls that could compromise a good story or unnecessarily harm a victim at a National Press Club event at 1 p.m. Jan. 8 in the Zenger Room.

Tickets are required to attend the session, which will last until 2:30 p.m. They are $5 for Club members and $10 for the public.

Panelists will include journalist Kristen Lombardi of the Center for Public Integrity, author of an investigation award-winning investigation of sexual assaults on campus; Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center at Columbia Journalism School, which offers guidance and training to journalists covering trauma; and a representative from RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization.
