Learn how to interview sexual assault survivors at Jan. 8 Club event

A panel of experts will help journalists learn how to interview sexual assault survivors and avoid pitfalls that could compromise a good story or unnecessarily harm a survivor.

The program is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 8 in the Zenger Room. Tickets are required to attend the session, which will last until 2:30 p.m. They are $5 for Club members and $10 for non-members,

Panelists will include journalist Kristen Lombardi of the Center for Public Integrity, author of an award-winning investigation of sexual assaults on campus; Bruce Shapiro, executive director of the Dart Center at Columbia Journalism School, which offers guidance and training to journalists covering trauma; and author and activist Liz Seccuro, who was raped at the University of Virginia in 1984, and was only able to obtain some accountability more than two decades later, when her attacker wrote and apologized to her for what he had done.
