A Leader of Catholic nuns group, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, to address August 16 Luncheon

A leader of the Catholic nuns organization at odds with the Vatican will discuss the coalition’s mission, its future role in the church, and controversy with the Vatican.

Sister Mary Hughes, Leadership Conference of Women Religious, an association that represents about 80% of U.S. Catholic nuns, will talk about the development of the LCWR's current relations with the Vatican, and the group's August 7-11 Assembly, which is dealing with the a critical report from the Vatican. Hughes is the immediate past president of LCWR and Prioress of the Sisters of St. Dominic.

Lunch is served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for Press Club members, $30 for guests of members, and $37 for general admission.
