Just a few days to reserve for Scotch Dinner Monday

Taste five boutique Scotch whiskies with a perfectly paired four-course dinner at the Fourth Estate's March 5 dinner featuring artisanal, small-batch Scotch maker Compass Box.

Compass Box is shaking up the whiskey industry with its distinctive, award-winning blends. Diners will have an exclusive opportunity to meet, discuss and taste the Scotch with whisky maker John Glaser, an American who founded Compass Box in 2000.

Diners will taste Asyla, Oak Cross, Peat Monster, Orangerie and Spice Tree during this one-of-a-kind meal.

The event begins with some Scotch to sip while mingling over passed hors d'oeuvres, including cheese gougeres, mini Reuben sandwiches, and smoked salmon and dill goat cheese bouchee.

With Asyla, a blend of Linkwood, Glen Elgin, and Teaninich, Malt, you'll enjoy a frisee salad with tangerine, cucumber, pear and shavings of parmesan.

Next, diners will taste The Spice Tree, a 10 to 12-year-old Northern Highland single malt with pepperjack and cheddar soup with crouton and crabmeat, followed by an intermezzo of palate-clearing tangerine ice.

The third course features The Peat Monster, which will be served with a charred hanger steak, bleu cheese sauce, Duchesse potatoes and roasted, cider-glazed squash.

This grand meal ends with Orangerie paired with Asian-spiced dark chocolate fondue with pound cake, strawberries and oranges for dipping.

The dinner, which begins at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5, costs $65 for members and their guests and $75 for non-members, including tax and tip. A designated driver dinner is available for $50, which includes soft drinks instead of Scotch. Reservations are essential. Please email [email protected] or call (202)662-7638.
