Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dunford to speak at Club luncheon, April 21

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Marine Corps General Joseph F. Dunford, plans to speak at a National Press Club luncheon on Friday, April 21.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for National Press Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $39 for all other non-member tickets.

General Dunford, the 19th Joint Chiefs chairman, plans to discuss a number of important issues facing the U.S. military including the latest strategy for defeating the Islamic State and other terrorist groups, cyber warfare, weapons acquisition and recruiting and strengthening U.S. alliances.

As the senior military officer in the United States, Dunford is the principal military advisor to the president, secretary of defense and National Security Council. Prior to becoming chairman on Oct. 1, 2015, he served as the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps. He previously served as the assistant ommandant of the Marine Corps and was commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan from February 2013 to August 2014.
