Jan. 12 Newsmaker: Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA), new ranking member of House Ways and Means Committee

Richard Neal, the new ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, will address a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference on Thurs., Jan 12, to discuss Democratic strategy as Congress considers the future of the Affordable Care Act.

The news conference featuring Neal, who represents Massachusetts 1st Congressional District, will begin at 10 a.m. in the club’s Bloomberg Room. No advance registration is required.

Rep. Neal also will discuss topics including the prospect of comprehensive tax reform in the 115th Congress and U.S. trade policy under a Trump administration.

Neal, a native of Springfield, Mass., was first elected to Congress in 1988. He is an expert on healthcare reform. The powerful Ways and Means Committee is involved in all decisions related to revenue including taxes, trade and Social Security.
