Intro to Media Training, 2-4 pm Dec 4; Free for Members

NPC member Adam Konowe will conduct "Introduction to Media Training" from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.

The class is designed to empower public relations practitioners and spokespeople to build happy long-term relationships with the journalists who cover their organizations.

It will offer young professionals, students on others seeking to polish their skills a primer on where media is today and how news happens. Participants will also get tips on how to field inquiries from journalists, interview successfully, and maintain proper attribution and confidentiality.

Konowe is vice president of public relations at Sullivan Higdon & Sink, where he specializes in business-to-business and business-to-government communications. He previously spent more than six years in broadcasting with C-SPAN, BizNet and PBS The Business Channel and is an adjunct professor of communication at American University.

Space is limited for this session, which will be held in the Library's Bloomberg Center for Electronic Journalism classroom and is free for NPC members; a $10 charge applies to non-members.
