Indiana Gov. Daniels introduces new book, 6:30 pm tonight

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels plans to discuss his new book, "Keeping the Republic: Saving America by Trusting Americans," at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in the conference rooms.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Proceeds benefit the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library. No outside books will be permitted. The event is free for members and $5.00 for non-members.

In “Keeping the Republic,” Daniels analyzes the political and economic landscape and offers policy prescriptions. Daniels recounts how he balanced Indiana's budget and promotes private-sector employment and fiscal restraint.

Daniels was elected the state's 49th governor in 2004 -- in his first bid for any public office. Daniels' became governor following a career that spanned business and government.

He says that his work as chief executive of the Hudson Institute and head of Eli Lilly and Company's North American pharmaceutical operations taught him the business skills he brought to state government. He also has served as chief of staff to Sen. Richard Lugar, senior adviser to President Ronald Reagan and director of the Office of Management and Budget under President George W. Bush.
