Hoffa takes on labor issues, presidential politics at Sept. 13 luncheon; reserve tickets now

Just a few days remain to reserve your seats for a luncheon featuring Teamsters President Jim Hoffa.

The NPC luncheon will be held Thursday, Sept. 13.

In a speech entitled, "Defining Patriotism: Protecting America and the American Worker," Hoffa will talk about the prospects for the country's workforce and what the government should do to bolster the American worker.

Hoffa, who grew up on the picket lines and in union meetings, began his fourth term as the union's general president in 2011. On March 19, 2013, Hoffa, a labor attorney from Detroit, will surpass his father, Jarmes R. Hoffa, to become the second-longest serving president in the 110-year history of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Only Dan Tobin, who served from 1907 to 1952, has held office longer. The Teamsters represent 1.4 million workers.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with the discussion beginning promptly at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for Club members, $30 for guests of members, and $37 for general admission. To reserve tickets, please [email protected] or call 202-662-7501. Tickets must be paid for at time of reservation.

To submit a question in advance, put HOFFA in the subject line and email to [email protected] before 10 a.m. on the day of the luncheon.
