Heart Association to Release Cost Projections, Noon Jan. 24

Cost projections for heart disease will be released by American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown at a Newsmaker at noon Monday, Jan. 24.

Brown will discuss trends in cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the United States. Her organization has developed a methodology to project future costs of care for hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart failure, stroke and all other forms of CVD from 2010 to 2030. CVD is the leading cause of death in the United States and is responsible for 17 percent of national health expenditures.

The findings comprise part of a policy statement from the American Heart Association urging effective prevention strategies to limit the growing burden of CVD.
