Hamrick Inaugural Menu Features Kansas, Maryland Cuisine; Jan. 29, $95

National Press Club Executive Chef Susan Delbert has revealed the menu guests can expect to enjoy at the Jan. 29 inaugural gala for new National Press Club President Mark Hamrick.

The lineup for the “We’re Not in Kansas Anymore” themed event features nods to Hamrick’s ties to Kansas and Maryland, along with a few surprises.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m., with dinner and the formal program following at 7:30. Special guests include broadcast legend Bill Kurtis, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, longtime Hollywood television director/producer Chuck Bowman and others.

Cocktail Hour Hors d’oeuvres:

  • Crab Rangoon

  • Fried Oysters

Gala Dinner Starter:


  • Sunflower State Salad: Greens with sunflower seeds, roasted corn, apples, grapes and cider vinaigrette

Gala Dinner Entrée:


  • 4 oz. Filet (Tenderloin) and Jumbo Lump Maryland Crab Cake

  • Scalloped Potatoes

  • Green Beans and Carrots with Butter Sauce



Gala Dinner Dessert:


  • Chocolate Tornado Cake with Ruby Slippers
