Group intends to unveil voting rights, education plan at NPC Newsmaker, May 5

The Voter Empowerment Action Project (VEAP) plans to unveil Voter Connect, a program to connect voters in blue states with voters in red states — one day before the North Carolina primaries, at a National Press Club Newsmakers event on May 5 at 10 a.m. in the NPC's Zenger Room.

Like all NPC Newsmaker events, it is open to credentialed media and Press Club members, free of charge and no advance registration is required.

VEAP provides voters with information about their rights and requirements to legally cast ballots at the polls.

Participants are expected to include VEAP President Yvette Lewis, who has chaired Maryland’s Democratic Party since May 2011; Mark Mellman of the Mellman Group, a political polling and consulting firm; and Karl Sandstrom, senior counsel with Perkins Cole and a nationally recognized expert on government regulation of the political process. Republican David Dunmeyer, vice chair of the Queen Anne's County, Maryland, Board of Commissioners, also plans to attend.
