Get tips on covering political conventions, 9:30 am July 23

The Democratic and Republican presidential nominating conventions are around the corner. If you'll be involved in covering them, don't miss the National Press Club's political convention boot camp at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 23.

You'll hear a panel discussion featuring the press gallery leaders who oversee credentialing and access, and then get tips and war stories from three veteran journalists.

From 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Jerry Gallegos and Joe Keenan of the House and Senate press galleries will describe convention logistics and take questions. After that, get coverage tips from Rick Dunham, Washington bureau chief of the Houston Chronicle and former Club president; Karen Tumulty, national political correspondent for The Washington Post; and Darlene Superville, political desk supervisor for The Associated Press.

This program is free and will be held in the Club conference rooms. It is presented by the Regional Reporters Association, the National Press Club Journalism Institute and the Club's Professional Development Committee.
