Fourth Estate: From the Bay, For the Bay

During the Week of October 9-13 the Fourth Estate Restaurant at the National Press Club is participating in “From the Bay, For the Bay,” an event celebrating and supporting Chesapeake Bay and local watermen. The Fourth Estate will be serving Chesapeake Bay oyster three ways: Chilly and freshly shucked Oysters on the Half Shell with cocktail sauce and lemon, warm Oysters Rockefeller with spinach and Pernod or baked Oysters Bienville with mushrooms and cheese. Oysters will be offered in half dozen ($10.00) or full dozen ($20.00) servings and may be ordered as an appetizer or an entrée. For each dozen oysters sold, the Club will donate one dollar to the Oyster Recovery Partnership, a non-profit organization which works to restore the native oyster population in Chesapeake Bay. The Fourth Estate is partnering with about 200 restaurants in the mid-Atlantic region to promote this initiative. Last year more than $25,000 was raised which allowed three million baby oysters to be placed into the water of Chesapeake Bay.

The Fourth Estate is open from 11:30-3:00 Monday-Saturday and 5:30-8:30 Tuesday –Saturday. Reservations are recommended; please phone (202) 662-7638 or book a table online here.
