Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell to discuss world hot spots, Congress Tuesday, March 4

Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell will address ongoing negotiations in world hot spots and the current state of politics and policy in Congress at a Newsmakers news conference on Tuesday, March 4 at 10 a.m.

Mitchell served as Senate Majority Leader from 1989 to 1995. He has been U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace and U.S. Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, where he brokered the Good Friday Agreement of international peace for which he earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was also chief investigator into bribery at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games, and, more recently, Athletic Integrity Monitor at Pennsylvania State University. He served as Major League Baseball’s chief investigator into the widespread use of performance-enhancing drugs. His 2007 report launched baseball’s current enhanced steroid disclosure and enforcement.
