Former Senate Leader Mitchell to Discuss World Hot Spots and State of Congress

Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, D-Maine, will address ongoing negotiations in world hot spots and the current state of politics and policy in Congress at a Newsmakers event on Tuesday, May 20 at 10 a.m. in the Bloomberg Room.
Since leaving the Senate, Mitchell has served as Special Envoy for Middle East Peace and Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, where he brokered the Good Friday Agreement and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was also served as the chief investigator into bribery at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games and as Athletic Integrity Monitor at Penn State.
Mitchell also served as Major League Baseball’s chief investigator into the use of performance-enhancing drugs. His 2007 report launched baseball’s current enhanced steroid disclosure and enforcement.
