Find thrills for the children on your holiday list at the Book Fair Nov. 18

Children on your holiday shopping list will be thrilled with the selection of new titles available at the Nov. 18 Book Fair and Authors’ Night.

Judith Viorst will be signing copies of her new book, “Alexander, Who's Trying His Best to Be the Best Boy Ever,” along with Misty Copeland with “Firebird,” Cokie Roberts with “Founding Mothers: Remembering the Ladies,” Gene Weingarten with “Me and Dog” and Laura Gehl with “One Big Pair of Underwear.” These are among the 100 nationally known writers autographing and selling their books at the festive event scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

We are pleased to be partnering once again with Politics & Prose, Washington’s largest independent bookstore.

The event is a fundraiser for The National Press Club’s Journalism Institute (NPCJI), a 501 (c) (3) that provides training for mid-career journalists and scholarships for the next generation of journalists. The Book Fair also supports the Club’s beautifully renovated Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, which provides research and resources for news professionals.

For the sixth year, the Book Fair is working with The SEED Foundation, which helps under-served students prepare for college. The young scholars attend one of two public boarding schools in the District and Maryland. The students select books they believe would enrich their education and patrons can buy them at the fair to help develop the Baltimore SEED School library. A group of students from the SEED school attend the event each year, giving them a chance to meet with authors and attendees.

Admission to the 37th annual fair is $5 for NPC members, $10 for non-members.

No outside books permitted. A full list of participants is listed on the Club’s website: www.press.org/bookfair

The NPCJI and the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library thank Brown Capital Management and Syngenta for their generous support.
