Enter Toastmaster's speech contest March 13

Please join the National Press Club Toastmasters Group for its semi-annual speech contest Monday, March 13, at 7 p.m., in the McClendon Room.

Winners will progress to the area contest, then regional, national, and finally – the international contest. No reservation is required and there is no charge to attend.

Why do people join Toastmasters? I asked that question to former NPC president Angela Greiling Keane, who was a Toastmaster for five years. She said, “I went from being someone who stumbled and said um and ah, usually with words rushing from my mouth, to being someone who, as Press Club president in 2013, interviewed dozens of high-profile people on live TV and who has made many live TV appearances as a journalist. That I can do that with confidence and ease without feeling nervous is a testament to the value of Toastmasters."

Whether you aspire to be on the air or the world’s stage, or just want to be a more competent and confident speaker, Toastmasters can help you. Come see how others are following in Angela's footsteps at the March 13 contest, and plan to attend the next regular meeting on March 27.

The Club's Toastmasters Club meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. There is no charge to visit and no limit to the number of visits. Membership fees are about $130 per year.
