Egyptologist who found cancer in a mummy to explain what ancient remains add to modern science, April 23

Dr. Salima Ikram, head of the American University in Cairo's Egyptology department, will speak on Egyptology's contribution to modern science and will address the state of the nation's antiquities post revolution at a Newsmaker press conference at 4 p.m. Monday, April 23. Ikram was in the news recently because of her role in the discovery of prostate cancer in a 2,200-year-old Egyptian mummy, which suggested the genetic origins of the disease.
