Education Secretary Arne Duncan to speak at NPC Luncheon, Oct. 2

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will discuss achievements and setbacks in U.S. education over the past four years at a National Press Club luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 2. He also will offer his views on the challenges facing education in the 21st century.

During his tenure as secretary, Duncan has led an effort to advance education reform. The department has offered incentives to states to raise standards, turn around low-performing schools and reward the country’s best teachers.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for Press Club members, $30 for guests of members, and $37 for general admission.
