Eat your oysters for the good of the Bay at Fourth Estate restaurant event

Slurp some oysters in support of the Chesapeake Bay and the watermen who ply it next week at the "From the Bay, For the Bay" event at the Fourth Estate restaurant at the National Press Club.

From Oct. 9 to Oct 13, the restaurant will feature three oyster dishes that celebrate the traditions of the Chesapeake Bay: chilled and freshly shucked oysters on the half shell with cocktail sauce and lemon, warm oysters Rockefeller with spinach and Pernod or baked oysters Bienville with mushrooms and cheese. Oysters will be offered by half dozen for $10 or full dozen for $20 and may be ordered as an appetizer or an entrée.

For each dozen oysters sold, the National Press Club will donate $1 to the Oyster Recovery Partnership, a non-profit organization that restores the native oyster population in Chesapeake Bay. The Fourth Estate is partnering with 200 restaurants in the mid-Atlantic region to promote this initiative. Last year the initiative raised more than $25,000, funding the placement of 3 million baby oysters into the water of Chesapeake Bay.

The Fourth Estate is open from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are recommended. To reserve, call 202-662-7638 or book a table on Open Table.
