D.C. reporters plan discussion of local journalism on May 4 at 7 p.m.

Three local journalists plan to discuss the challenges they face and the resources their media organizations bring in covering District of Columbia regional news at a Society of Professional Journalists D.C. (SPJ DC) Chapter event on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m.

Registration is required. Tickets are $5 for Press Club and SPJ DC members and $10 for the general public. Students are free. To register click here.

The panel’s moderator is expected to be Eric Falquero, editor-in-chief of the District’s Street Sense newspaper.

The panelists are expected to include:


  • Kavitha Cardoza, who covers education at WAMU(FM) Washington and is an adjunct faculty member of American University’s Department of Communication

  • Aaron Davis covers District government for the Washington Post.

  • Cuneyt Dil writes the District Links e-newsletter, which he founded, and freelancer for Washington’s Current newspapers.

The event runs until 8 p.m., and starting at 6:30 p.m., drinks and hors de oeuvres are expected to be offered.
