CNN foreign affairs correspondent Jill Dougherty joins 5K race

Jill Dougherty, CNN foreign affairs correspondent, will run in the National Press Club’s 14th Annual Beat the Deadline 5K race on Saturday, June 11, and made a challenge for other journalists to sign up and compete against one another.

Dougherty previously served as U.S. affairs editor for CNN International, covering political, cultural and business stories in the United States. She also was managing editor of CNN International Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong and coordinated CNN’s newsgathering across the Asia Pacific region. Prior to that she was CNN’s Moscow bureau chief.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library.

The race starts at 8:00 a.m. at the National Press Building and will be followed by the NPC Health & Fitness Fair, the famous pancake breakfast and an awards ceremony. Cash prizes will be awarded for top finishers.
