Club Members Fitzgerald & Bjerga Win Ag, Business Writing Awards

Press Club members at Bloomberg News have won awards for their coverage of finance, food and floods.

Alison Fitzgerald won the Society of American Business Editors and Writers Enterprise Reporting Award for her contributions to ``Ten Days Changed Wall Street as Bernanke Saw `Massive Failure.' "

Fitzgerald and Club Vice President Alan Bjerga shared SABEW's Projects award with nine other writers for their parts in Bloomberg's seven-part ``Recipe for Famine' series exploring global hunger. The series also won took top honors from the Overseas Press Club, which gave Bloomberg its Malcolm Forbes Award for Best Business Reporting from Abroad in Newspapers and Wire Services, and from the North American Agricultural Journalists, which placed the series in a tie for first in its Special Projects category.

Bjerga also won the NAAJ's top feature writing award for his contribution to the ``Recipe for Famine' series, along with honorable mentions in the competition's features and news categories for articles on Iowa floods and country-of-origin labeling.
