Club contest seeks best critical writing about journalism

The National Press Club journalism contest wants to honor the best writing and critical analysis about the news industry with the Arthur Rowse Award for Press Criticism.

The award is looking for work from 2015 that examines the role and work of the news media. All entries must focus on criticism of journalistic practices or reporting on the industry, and must encourage responsible media behavior.

The award is sponsored by former U.S. News & World Report reporter Arthur Rowse.The Press Club, a national leader among journalism organizations, encourages those who write about the news business, regularly or occasionally, to enter the contest.

Entrants are encouraged to enter online, but if you prefer, the Club will accept mailed entries postmarked before the deadline.

No matter how you enter, the most important thing is to make sure you submit your best journalism.The awards will be presented at an annual awards dinner at the National Press Club this summer.

The contest includes awards for political reporting, regional reporting on Washington, international coverage, consumer reporting and online journalism. It also includes a group of awards for areas as diverse as reporting on the welfare of animals, newsletter writing, the aviation industry, problems facing the elderly and humor writing.
