Chicago Mayor Emanuel to discuss education agenda at June 20 Luncheon

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel plans to discuss "Moving Forward in Chicago," including new initiatives for education and other programs, at a Headliner Luncheon on Tuesday, June 20.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $39 for all other non-member tickets. Tickets can be purchased online.

For questions, please email [email protected] or call (202) 662–7501. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.

Emanuel said he wants to guarantee the future success of students by requiring public high-school seniors to provide a college or trade school acceptance letter, proof of military enlistment or a job offer in order to graduate.

Emanuel is serving his second term as mayor of Chicago, the nation’s third-largest city. Before being elected to the post, he was White House chief of staff under President Barack Obama’s chief of staff and served three terms in the House.

The Chicago school system is graduating an increasing number of students from 66 percent in 2014 to about 73 percent in 2016. However, this rate is still below the national average of 80 percent.

Club members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the Luncheon to attend the VIP reception.

To submit a question in advance, put EMANUEL in the subject line and email to [email protected] before 10 a.m. on the day of the luncheon.
