Campaign Boot Camp: Covering conventions, May 31

With the Republicans meeting in Cleveland and the Democrats in Philadelphia next month, the National Press Club’s Journalism Institute will focus on covering national party conventions at the next in its series of Campaign Boot Camp programs.

Get tips from veteran journalists about how to find stories inside and outside the convention hall, and find out from the House Press Gallery staff about logistics surrounding credentials.

The program on Tuesday, May 31 [the day after Memorial Day] runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is open to the public for a $10 fee, or $5 for members of the National Press Club.

The panel will include:
· Justin Supon, deputy director of the House Press Gallery
· David Lightman, national political correspondent for McClatchy Newspapers
· Jessica Wehrman, Washington correspondent for the Columbus Dispatch

Herb Jackson, Washington correspondent for The Record newspaper in North Jersey and chairman of the professional development committee of the club, will moderate.
