Bring the family for a magical morning with Marvin and Deborah Kalb on Saturday, Aug. 27

Travel back in time to meet George Washington during a magical morning for the whole family at the National Press Club.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m., the NPC Book and Author Committee will present a family-friendly Book Rap with Deborah Kalb, author of "The President and Me: George Washington and The Magic Hat." The event will also feature crafts, magic and refreshments. Deborah Kalb will be interviewed by legendary journalist Marvin Kalb, who also happens to be her dad!

The book, targeted to youngsters seven and up, tells the tale of a fifth-grade boy struggling to find his place after his best friend abandons him. A visit to Mount Vernon lands him in the 18th century where George and Martha Washington help him learn about history, himself, and the nature of friendships and families.

The cost is $5 for NPC members, $10 for non-members. All children are admitted free. Click here for tickets.

This event is a fundraiser for the non-profit National Press Club Journalism Institute.
