Book fair and authors' night scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 13

The National Press Club’s 35th annual Book Fair and Authors’ Night will showcase up to 100 authors from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13.

The authors will be on hand to meet their fans and sign books

From Michael Gordon’s New York Time's bestselling work chronicling the end of the war in Iraq, to Hedrick Smith’s book on the loss of the American dream to Stuart Eizenstat’s work on the future of the Jewish people, volumes on history and politics, mysteries, cookbooks, children’s books and memoirs will fill the tables.

In addition to the smorgasbord of 2012 books, patrons also will have the chance to help support the work of the National Press Club Journalism Institute by purchasing tickets to win a wide array of prizes at the annual Book Fair Raffle. A golf package for four, wine tasting, a private art gallery tour for 25 people, dinners at popular DC restaurants, a night at a DC hotel, original works of art, baskets of signed books by award-winning authors, gift certificates and gourmet baskets from area merchants are just a few of the valuable donated items that will be raffled off during the evening.

The Book Fair is a fundraiser for The National Press Club Journalism Institute, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. The event helps the Institute’s cutting-edge programming and mission, which includes a competitive scholarship program that promotes diversity among the next generation of journalists, and hi-tech training programs for journalists and communications specialists.

For the fourth year, the Book Fair is partnering with The SEED Foundation, which helps under-served students prepare for college. The young scholars attend one of two public boarding schools in the District and Maryland. Students from the school will be on hand at the SEED School table to meet the Book Fair authors and attendees. Books will be available for patrons to purchase to help develop the Baltimore, Maryland SEED School library.

Admission is free for NPC members, $10 for non-members.
