Baseball players’ bargaining representative to speak at Luncheon

Michael Weiner, executive director and general counsel of the Major League Baseball Players’ Association (MLBPA) will speak at a Luncheon on Wednesday, April 11.

The “boys of spring” soon will be on baseball fields in Washington, D.C. and around the nation. Weiner will “throw out the first pitch” to fans and the media.

Weiner says the future of America’s favorite pastime is being shaped by the collective bargaining process. MLBPA is the collective bargaining representative for current players, and Weiner says this season’s agreement can be a model for all sports. Weiner also represents the players in rules for drug testing, player safety and the expanded playoff season.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for Press Club members, $30 for guests of members, and $37 for general admission. To reserve tickets, please e-mail [email protected] or call (202) 662-7501. Tickets must be paid for at time of reservation.

To submit a question in advance, put BASEBALL in the subject line and email to [email protected] before 10 a.m. on the day of the luncheon.
