Band White Ford Bronco to rock Spelling Bee after party Wednesday, Oct. 21

White Ford Bronco will rock the after party for the 2015 National Press Club "Politicians vs. Press" spelling bee. The event will see six members of Congress face off against six members of the news media in a hilarious spelling competition moderated by the Scripps National Spelling Bee Wednesday, Oct. 21.

White Ford Bronco is Washington D.C.'s beloved all-90s cover band, known for playing hit tunes by *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morissette and Britney Spears.

The National Press Club held its first spelling bee in 1913. President Woodrow Wilson and members of his Cabinet were among the 1,000 people who showed up to watch. A House member won. A centennial rematch in 2013 saw Senator Tim Kaine, D-Va., take the title of "The Best Speller in the United States.”

Sen. Kaine will be back to defend his title this year on a team of politicians that includes Rep. Brendan Boyle, D-Pa., Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., Rep. Brad Ashford, D-Neb and Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Az.

The team attempting to win for journalists includes former Press Club president Angela Greiling Keane of Bloomberg News, David Kerley of ABC News, Rebecca Sinderbrand of The Washington Post, Rod Kuckro of E&E News, Yochi Dreazen of Foreign Policy and Amy Ellis Nutt of The Washington Post.

The event will also feature a performance by comedian Tim Young. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the NPC Journalism Institute.

Doors open at 6 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m. A cash bar will be open throughout the evening.

Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Buy tickets here.
