Author of Trump biography plans Press Club Book Rap, Aug. 4

David Cay Johnston plans to discuss his new book, "The Making of Donald Trump," at a National Press Club Book Rap at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, the conference rooms.

Tickets are $5 for Club members; $10 public. This event is a fundraiser for the nonprofit NPC Journalism Institute.

Tickets can be purchased online. Books can be purchased online at the same time as tickets or at the event. No outside books or memorabilia are permitted.

In "The Making of Donald Trump," Johnston goes back in time to look at Trump’s rise to power, including his family background, his litigation history and his ties to organized crime.

The event will include an audience question-and-answer session and a book signing.

Johnston is an investigative journalist and the winner of a 2001 Pulitzer Prize for journalism. A long-time reporter and columnist for the New York Times and former president of the Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE), he is also the author of several New York Times bestsellers, including "Perfectly Legal," "Free Lunch," and
"The Fine Print."

He has won the IRE Medal and a George Polk Award for his reporting and is currently a contributing writer to Newsweek and a regular columnist for USA Today. Johnston teaches at Syracuse University College of Law and lives in Rochester, New York.
