Holder, attorney general since Feb. 3, 2009, announced in September that he plans to leave office once his successor is confirmed. He is the longest serving member of President Barack Obama’s cabinet.

While Holder's tenure has been marked by controversy, including unrest over grand-jury decisions in Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island,New York, the Department of Justice has boosted its record on civil rights, including lawsuits over voting rights in North Carolina and Texas, and investigating police abuses and cases of excessive force. The Justice Department also persuaded Congress and the U.S. Sentencing Commission to reduce prison sentences for non-violent drug crimes.

To submit a question in advance, put HOLDER in the subject line and email to [email protected] before 10 a.m. on the day of the luncheon.
