Amnesty International to discuss status of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslim minority at July 10 Newsmaker

T. Kumar, international advocacy director for Amnesty International will discuss the status of the Rohingya Muslim minority in Myanmar at a Newsmaker event Tuesday, July 10 at 3 p.m.

Kumar says the Rohingya face abuse, including revocation of citizenship, even as the political situation in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, stabilizes. The government of Myanmar requires Rohingya to seek government permission to marry, restricts the group's ability to travel, and may press the group into forced labor.
